The Phoenix Economy

It's out today!

I’m beyond excited to announce that my first (and probably last) book, The Phoenix Economy, is out today. It’s an examination of the profound ways the world has changed in the past three years, and what that means for the future. None other than Joe Stiglitz says that I’m “the Daniel Defoe of our time.” It’s not a heavy tome of wonkery. My hope was always to keep this eminently readable and fun, dotted throughout with flashes of recognition.

I’ve given a brief idea of what I’m calling the New Not Normal here. Other Axios stories from the book include pieces about the erosion of the dollar; the generational change in stock-market investing; the epistemic crisis; and the concept of good inflation. The Boston Globe has an excerpt examining the rise of regionalism, and Jim Ledbetter interviewed me for his newsletter.

As you can tell, I cover a lot of ground in this book. It’s in three sections: Time and Space; Mind and Body; Business and Pleasure. Obviously, I’d love it if you read it. Buy copies for your friends! Tell me what you think! Or listen to the audiobook, which I narrated.

Beyond that, it would be amazing if you could share the news on your socials. I put a lot of work into this book, it’s the most joined-up thinking I’ve ever done, and right now the main thing I want is to just get the word out.

Thanks!
